Counseling Services
Core Curriculum Lessons
On a rotating schedule I visit every classroom each month to present counseling lessons to students.
Some topics include: Growth Mindset and Positive Thinking, Conflict Resolution, Emotional Management, Friendship Skills, Body Safety, Digital Citizenship, and Career Awareness.
Small Group Counseling
Student groups meet each week to help students build the skills they are needing to improve on. Students must have parent permission to participate in a group. Some topics include: Social Skills, Friendship Skills, Anger Management, Self-Esteem, Study Skills, and Behavior Choices.
Individual Counseling
Meeting with students one-on-one is a great way to help students talk through and problem solve difficult situations they are dealing with related to school, friendships, and family. Any student can request to talk with me.
Special Programs
Student Council Leadership Program: students in every grade level are involved as homeroom representatives and/or officers. They are in charge of planning the monthly community service projects and working to make DCES a better place.
Red Ribbon Week: each school year we celebrate being drug-free and making healthy choices.
Career Day: this is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about different careers from parents and community members who come into the school as guest speakers.
